Age 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 15, 2012, in Clarksburg, California. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara Wurzbach Fraser. He also leaves his sister, Agnes (Sammie) Fehr, sister-in-law, Winifred Fraser; children, Anne Fraser (deceased), Robert Fraser (Cary), Kathryn (Jeff) Hutter, and Sam Fraser; grandchildren, Scott (Nicole), Brooke, Alexandra Fraser, Zachary and Matthew Donohue; and great-grandchildren, Anabel and Preston Fraser. A renowned California farmer for 65 years, Bill and his brother Jim Fraser grew sugar beets, alfalfa, safflower, and corn among other crops in the Sacramento River Delta. In his later years, he grew walnuts with his son Sam.
Bill was a distiguished Army Ranger serving in World War II. He was active on many agricultural industry organizations to include the San Joaquin Hay Growers Association, California Farm Bureau, and Diamond Walnut Association. He was active in the Clarksburg Public Library, Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department and Clarksburg Community Church. Bill was an avid reader of American history and considered himself an expert of Civil War history. Bill was honored to be the Grand Marshall of the Clarksburg Fire Department 4th of July parade this year and was loved and appreciated by his family and friends.
Celebration of Bill's life will be held at Clarksburg Community Church, Netherlands Road, Clarksburg on Friday, October 19th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Clarksburg Community Church building fund, P.O. Box 36, Clarksburg, CA 95612.
