William Eugene Tejes

Bill passed away peacefully Friday, August 4, 2023, in Sacramento, where he lived for 70 years. Bill was born December 4, 1927, in Elgin, Illinois, the son of John and Ethel Tejes, both immigrants from Budapest, Hungary. He was united in marriage to Jane Tejes on December 11, 1948, in Elgin, Illinois. They were married for 66 blissful years. Jane passed away in April 2015.

He is survived by his children, Brian Tejes (Donna), Ft Worth, TX, Cindy Sexton (Mike), San Tan Valley, AZ, and John Tejes (Debbie), Sacramento, Ca; 5 loving grandchildren; Jason Sexton, Robert Tejes, Nicole Sexton, Sean Sexton, and Cristelle Tejes and two great-grandchildren; Jayden Sexton and Gabriel Tejes.

Bill started his 38-year career with Western Electric Company in downtown Chicago, Illinois, starting at a young age after completing courses at Coyne Radio and Electronic School. While working for Western Electric, he served two years in the US Air Force 101st Weather Group as a meteorologist. In 1953 Bill transferred from Elgin, Illinois, to Sacramento, California, with Jane, his wife, to start their family. In 1958 they moved into their 1st home in the Land Park area of Sacramento, where he lived in the family home for 65 years. He retired from Western Electric in 1983 as a Regional Manager.

Bill loved hunting and fishing, followed by his never-ending list of beloved cars. He always looked forward to his weekend trips to the flea market! Bill had many side-project businesses over the years that kept him busy and young. He enjoyed backyard barbequing and Sunday dinners with the family. The occasional card game of pinnacle or blackjack. Historically, he and Jane took annual trips to both Palm Springs, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii.

Funeral services for William E. Tejes, 95, a resident of Sacramento for 70 years, will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Harry A. Nauman & Son. 4041 Freeport Blvd in Sacramento. Interment immediately following; East Lawn Cemetery 4300 Folsom Blvd.
