Frank R. Downey, 80, of St. Albans, passed away March 22, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston. He was born March 14, 1938 and was a son of the late Blaine and Marvel Downey. Frank was a graduate of SCHS class of 1956. He served in the United State Army and retired from Charleston Newspaper. He loved to buy and sell antiques. He was always with us for birthdays, Christmas and other special occasions. We all loved Frankie very much and as he would say “You too!”. Frank is survived by his sister, Pauline (Larry) Call of St. Albans; brother, Dana Carl (Alma Lee) Downey of Sissonville; nieces, Cheryl (Michael) Koontz of Cincinnati, Cathy (Tim) Butcher of Clay and Diana Downey of Tornado; nephew, David Downey of Sissonville; great-nieces and families, Cherie (Jason) Caudill, Cameron and Kaelynn of Pataskala, Ohio, Jessica (Devin) McKinney, Silas and Kian of Charleston, SC, Jennifer (Ryan) Duffield, Lexie and Nolan of Clay and Kayleigh Black of Tornado. Frank’s request was to be cremated. Military graveside rites will be conducted in his honor by St. Albans VFW#6418 and American Legion Post #73 at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2018 at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. “Rest in peace FRD. My deepest sympathy to all of Frank’s family. Pete and Frank (and I) were friends for many years and he will be missed.
I am so sorry I did not know of his passing and have been trying to call him for months. 😢
