Virginia "Ginny" Yoder Spurlock, 90, passed into peaceful sleep on February 1, 2019 after suffering from dementia and its complications for several years.
She was born May 30, 1928 in Charleston, the daughter of Charles E. and Dora M. Yoder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oscar Leo Spurlock; daughter, Pamela Spurlock Boggess; and grandson, Alex Williams.
Ginny lived most of her life in Tornado. She was a graduate of St. Albans High School Class of 1946, and was a lifelong member of Washington Street Church of Christ.
In 1946, she married the love of her life, Oscar Leo Spurlock. She and Leo enjoyed 55 years together until his passing in 2001.
Ginny & Leo were blessed with four beautiful daughters, Jane Carpenter-Hereford, of St. Albans, Beverly Hill (Richard), of St. Albans, Paula Bowling of Strongsville, Oh., and Pamela Spurlock Boggess, deceased. She was the loving grandmother, of Shelley Bowman, Ginny Bowman Nelson (Sam), Christopher Bowman (Rachel), Taylor Bowling, Ginny Leigh Boggess, and Nathaniel Adam Boggess; Matthew (Tabatha) Sayre, and Nickie Sayre; nine great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Rosemary Spurlock (Keith), and Jane Blankenship (Michael), both of Lakeland, Fla., sisters in law, Linda Horrocks (Hugh), of Tenn., and Martha Pawloski (Lee), of Conn.
She will be sorely missed by a host of other relatives and friends, including her best friend in life, Kay Phalen Davis.
Celebration of Ginny's life will be held at 7 p.m., on Thursday, February 7, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home with Minister Scott Pauley officiating.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 5 p.m., until time of service, at the funeral home.
