He is preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Lilly (Robinson) and two sisters, Myrtle Blackwell and Margie Williams.
Alton is survived by his wife Catherine (Trautwein), they just celebrated their 73rd Anniversary this past July. He is also survived by daughters, Pam Freeman, Cathy (Tim Sweeney) Young and two sons Alton “Butch” (Mickie), and Brian (Beth). He was a loving grandfather to Joe (Stephanie) Copeland, Melissa “Missy” (Tony) LaFlore, Zach Freeman, Donald Young Jr, Kelly Copeland, and Justin Copeland. Alton was also a great grandfather of six.
Alton was employed over forty years with Artistic Furniture where he was the plant supervisor. He also dabbled locally as a meat cutter. Alton was no stranger to a strong work ethic and worked well into his eighties. His hobbies including wood- working, which is not surprising since he worked in the furniture making industry.
The family would also like a special mention to the VFW Post #4105 in Florissant, Missouri. Alton was a member of the post and he and Catherine became regulars and were well known enough that they had their own special seats. Post #4105 will have an honor guard and service at 6:45 pm during the visitation at the funeral home.
A visitation is scheduled for Alton on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 Saint Charles Rock Road, Saint Ann, Missouri. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 starting at 9:30 AM at the funeral home with a burial following at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with Military Honors. Alton was a proud Navy veteran.
