Aunt Bessie you will be missed greatly, you were (are) my favorite Aunt, our childhood was filled with fond memories of being with you and your family, from spending the night at your house, camping in Piedmont, you were loved and cherished throughout my life , even into adulthood, I loved your honesty and your straightforward attitude, you never pulled any punches that’s hard to find today but you always held fast to your thoughts and beliefs, even telling me to always shave my beard lol!
You are now with Uncle Jim, but neither of you will ever be forgotten! Thank you for being a part of my life!

Grandma i will always miss you. I feel your presence when the wind blows and the birds sing. Our birthday will never be the same. But know that I will still always honor you on it. I love you so much. Your favorite granddaughter Samantha Jane

Miss Bessie was the most caring person and loved her children and their families.
I have many fond and great memories sitting around the kitchen table while she would be cooking dinner and listening to her many, many countless stories of her past living in Paw Paw, West Virginia.
She told me of the time that she was a waitresses in DC and Eleanor Roosevelt snuck out of the White House to get away from the secret service and came to the diner across the street where Bessie worked, she asked Bessie if she knew who she was and of course I know who you are!! With Bessie she did have a little attitude about her, but she said it wasn't soon after that the secret service found Mrs. Roosevelt and escorted her promptly back. I could listen for hours, and while cooking that dinner she would not hesitate to include you has she was disciplining her children if needed be. You will be greatly missed by me and a lot of other neighborhood children who came to know and love you as a second mother, I thank you for that.
Rest with the Angels sweet Bessie 💛
