Uncle Dempsey was a loving father to his children. He was always welcoming and loving when we would stop by to visit. He was faithful to his Lord, to the church and to his family and extended family. His loving influence will be greatly missed.

Biography

Dempsy E. Faulkner of St. Charles, Missouri is resting peacefully in the arms of his Savior on July 3, 2019 at the age of 92. He is preceded in death by his wife Alta; sons David Rickie and Jan William; his brother Ernest and many other family members and friends.

Dempsy was born in Neil’s Creek, Missouri to Irvine and Bessie Faulkner on November 19, 1926. As a child, Dempsy had many adventures around Bixby and Boss, Missouri- one of which included stealing chickens and losing his shoes! Here he developed his lifelong passion of raising, running and training beagles.

Dempsy married Ruby and together they welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Charlotte. Dempsy was overjoyed. Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, Ruby and Dempsy divorced. Shortly after, Dempsy and his brothers moved to St. Louis where Dempsy started the next chapter of his life.

Dempsy had known Alta, and one day they decided to get married. It was a great choice! The two eloped to Salem, Arkansas on August 4, 1950. The following year they welcomed a son, David Rickie, who died in infancy. In 1954 they welcomed a second son, Dennis- also known as Robin and completing their family in 1957, Jan William was born.

Dempsy tried many jobs in his lifetime, but mostly enjoyed his job as a meat cutter at Swift Independent Packaging House.

In 1970 Dempsy and Alta moved from Berkeley and built their dream home in St. Charles, Missouri. When his boys married and began a life of their own, it was quite the adjustment. But soon came grandchildren. Dempsy enjoyed and loved his grandchildren very much.

In March of 1986 Dempsy retired. He looked forward to a long retirement with his beloved family, but after a short illness, Alta passed away in March of 1987. Dempsy was devastated and unsure where life would take him.

Dempsy married longtime friend and confidant, Ruth on November 14, 1987. Together the two enjoyed their retirement years by going on trips and spending time with their blended family.

Dempsy gave his life to the Lord when he was 19 years old and was a deeply religious man. He and Ruth attended Calvary Temple and Dempsy was a member of Young at Heart. He made numerous lifelong friends there, friendships that he cherished.

Throughout the years, Dempsy and Ruth watched as their family grew, welcoming more and more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dempsy continued to enjoy his retirement by lounging in his blue chair watching The Andy Griffith Show or The Gaithers. He also continued to enjoy running dogs, winning awards and raising champions. His most accomplished dog was Goldie- her ancestors are still known throughout the community as top notch competitors. He was a longtime member of the ILL-MO Beagle Club.

In his final days, Dempsy was cared for by his very special granddaughters: Natasha, Kori and Lorie. He passed into the presence of his Lord while surrounded by his loving family.

Dempsy is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ruth; his dear children, Charlotte (Donnie) Mayfield and Dennis Faulkner; daughter-in-law, Margaret; step-children, Ron (Dee Anna) Proctor, Donna (Gene) Smith and Joyce Pillow; siblings, Earl (Jean) Faulkner, Ray (the late Martha) Faulkner, Norma (Charles) Wright, Roy (Wanda) Faulkner and the late Ernest (Edith) Faulkner; his cherished grandchildren, Darren, Rebecca, Dempsy (Michelle), Kori (Jeremy), Dru (Amber), Lorie (Nick), Jackie (Kevin), Andrew, Natasha and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dempsy will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved his family and the Lord. A man who had a passion for the for close friendships, Beagles and his comfy blue chair. Dempsy was ornery and always ready to tease and smile.

A very special thank you to BJC Hospice for the tender and loving care that Dempsy and his family received during this difficult time.

A Visitation will be held from 11am until time of Service on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Calvary Temple- 3930 McClay Rd., St. Charles, MO and also from 11am until the time of Service on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Boss Assembly of God Church- 22651 MO-32, Boss, MO.
