Doris L. Sandt (nee Dvorak), 90, of Maryland Heights passed away peacefully on December 4, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Helen Dvorak; her husband of 48 years, Richard Sandt; and a brother, Donald (Virginia) Dvorak. Doris is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Tim) Garvey of Ferguson, Karen (Jerry) Schapp of Ferguson, and Sandy Lada of St. Charles; grandchildren, Jeff (Susan) Garvey, Colleen (Ed) Knoten, Sarah (Nate) Horstmann, Greg (Betsy) Schapp, Stephanie (Jon) Eaton, and Mike Lada; great grandchildren, Abby and Ava Garvey, Caleb and Elsie Knoten, Sebastian and Neala Horstmann, Cora and Tessa Schapp, and Eli and Zoe Eaton; and a brother, Robert (Gloria) Dvorak. Dear aunt, cousin, and friend of many. Doris was an outgoing lady who was kind-hearted and extremely generous. Any charitable organization envelope mailed to her home was always filled and returned. Doris and Richard had a great life together and loved to travel across the country in their RV. Doris especially loved anywhere with a beach and a place to swim. She loved her family and her dogs and was always singing a happy tune as she walked around her home. Feeding the birds was a very important activity for her. Doris spent a lot of quality time with her nieces and nephews and treated them as her own children. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and spent many years in a ladies bowling league. Her cheerful smile and kindness to everyone will be missed.

Wow, where to begin? Mrs Sandt was my second mom growing up! Sandy and I spent a lot of time at their house! I can still hear her yelling “Sandy” the way she would when Sandy and I were up to our antics. Many days swimming in the pool, and her grilled cheese were the best!! My mom always loved picking me up from their house because Mr and Mrs Sandt would always make her a martini! Lol! Thank you for raising me well and being my second mom! Love you lots!! Lisa

There are just no words to describe how much my Aunt Doris meant to me from the time I was a little kid until now !!! I'll always remember how she let me play in her jewelry box, and her love of swimming, the Lake, camping, travel, the Memorial Day BBQs at her house, Xmas Eve at her house, etc. Most of all I will remember the awesome example Aunt Doris gave me in the way she treated people with respect and love her whole life, giving 150% to her Family. See you later, Aunt Doris. I'll try to be as good of a person as your were. Love from one of your Godchildren. Lori
