Kenneth "Frank" Winston James

Kenneth W. “Frank” James, asleep in Jesus on April 9, 2018. He died after many years of a courageous battle with skin cancer. Born in Rozell, Kansas on June 10, 1930, he was raised in Cranston, Letts and later Muscatine, Iowa. He served in the Army from 1948-1952 and graduated from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, IA in 1956. He married Leda (nee Frost) in 1956 in Nashua, IA. In 1961, he and Leda moved to St. Louis, MO.

Ken was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. He hunted and fished, camped, and played baseball and football, coached Little League baseball, was a Boy Scout Cub Master and President of the St. Ann Missouri Baseball Association. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and family, country music, and corny jokes. He was an accountant by trade and enjoyed doing taxes for friends and family. Ken worked for McDonnell-Douglas from 1967-1987. For several years, he operated his own accounting firm, James Accounting & Tax Service. His last job was with Save a Day Laundry where he retired at age 80 after 20 years of service. Ken was a proud member of the American Legion Post 338 of Overland, MO, serving as honor guard at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for several years. He was also a member of Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO.

He is survived by a son, Jeffrey James of Redlands, CA; daughter, Diane James of Florissant, MO; sister, Ruth Reist of Muscatine, IA; brother, Robert James of Peoria, IL; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leda, and 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Friends may visit on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann, MO. Another service will be held in Muscatine, IA where he will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials are appreciated to the Missouri Society for the Blind and the Honor Flight of Greater St. Louis. Expressions of condolence may be offered at
