Lee Francis Spaedy, Jr., 87, of Lake St. Louis, MO passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 at his residence. Lee was known as “Papoo” and “Papa” and was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather.

Lee is preceded in death by his wife, Joann “Honey” and a daughter, Michele Rost. He is survived by his sons, John Spaedy, Michael (Susan) Rost, Daniel (Claudia) Rost; daughter, Monica Knudtson; grandchildren, Adam Knudtson, Melinda Knudtson, Jeremy Knudtson, Angela Newsom, Robert Daugherty, Andrew (Natalie) Daugherty, Stephen Rost, Lissie (Toby) Eiler, Maggie (Mark) Landrigan, Keegan Rost, and Katrina Rost; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Lee loved his mom, his wife, his children, step-children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, friends, and co-workers. He was a good and decent man his entire life and always tried to do the right thing. He endured many hardships and ordeals that served to make him stronger, and rarely ever complained about the hand he was dealt. He was a humble man who never truly appreciated what he overcame or what he had accomplished in his life, even when others who knew him always did, but Lee was always grateful for his blessings. He was a proud Korean War veteran and a loyal G.M. employee. He lived a long life and stayed strong up to the very end, refusing to accept the limitations that disease, illness, or age placed upon him.

Lee could build anything and fix everything. He always worked hard and enjoyed the simple things in life, like watching a Cardinals baseball game, playing catch, golf , working on cars, zoysia, fresh donuts, warm bread, pasta dinners, Pepsi, Steak & Shake, Central Hardware, James Bond movies, roast beef & mashed potatoes, working around the house, and always staying busy. For Lee, a day-off was a chance to get more projects done. Lee probably poured more concrete than anyone else in Missouri. He appreciated life's simple pleasures, like watching a summer rainfall, a cold glass of lemonade on a warm day, being around his grandkids, running errands, or admiring a lawn he had just mowed. Watching "The Price is Right", "Jeopardy", or "Dr. Phil" was all he needed. He will be missed by all he touched, and all who knew him. The world was a better place with Lee in it, and he left it far too soon.

Friends may visit on Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann. Service will be at the funeral home on Friday, March 29 at 11 a.m. with Rev Gerald Meier presiding. Lee will be laid to rest with full military honors beside his wife at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the American Cancer Society. Expressions of condolence are encouraged at www.alexanderstlouis.com.

Lee’s kindness and dedication to family shows through Monica and John. He was one of the kindest men I ever met, never a harsh word for anyone, just a very lovely soul. Monica and John mirror their father’s spirit of love, I’m sure he was very very proud of his whole family, that is the way he lived.
