Heavens population increased on Tuesday, May 11th 2021with the passing away of Lloyd Gwaltney. One of his favorite songs was “I’ll Fly Away”. The lyrics express his desire to be with to be with the Lord “When I die, hallelujah by and by, I’ll fly away.” This is the only video over that the family has of him singing this song. It was taken last year at his home in Lake St. Louis. He was 95 years old and his family and his family was celebrating Father’s Day with him.
His beloved wife, Crethia Odell Gwaltney, entered into rest in 2005. God blessed Lloyd with a wonderful lady to fill the void in his life, who became his wife. “Iva (Denny) Gwaltney.” She brought years of Joy into his life and loved him deeply!
His oldest son William [Bill] Gwaltney, passed away in 2018. His remaining four children are: Joyce Kudo, Dee Gwaltney, Dan Gwaltney and Brenda Wakefield. He also has 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren as well as great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Lloyd Gwaltney will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, May 17, 2021, at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd., St. Ann MO 63074. Visitation beginning at 12:00 pm prior to the service. Following the service burial will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
