Marilyn had a tremendous love of music that started with jam sessions with her Mom and other relatives in Sullivan, MO. She began making public appearances as a child, and at 16 was the drummer in her first band. Throughout her career she was known for her powerful voice and entertained all over the greater St. Louis area, as well as nationally. In the 1960’s she began her recording career in Nashville, releasing several popular songs and appearing with many other famous country musicians. When it was time for her daughter to begin kindergarten, she stopped traveling appearances and continued to be booked solid as a local entertainer for the bulk of her career. In addition to being a Nashville recording artist, she was also co-owner of The Flaming Rose Saloon, Spotlight Karaoke, and the first female heavy equipment operator in Local 513. Passionate about politics, she was elected committee woman for Midland Township, and became a strong political activist volunteering on numerous local, state, and national campaigns.
Marilyn was energetic, and feisty, always involving herself in various causes, while putting her family first. She loved to travel, golf, fish and was a great photographer. She was an accomplished woman who could literally light up a room. She made her mark on audiences, friends and family- especially her beloved grandchildren Morgan and Connor.
