OBITUARY

Mary Frances Goodrum

December 1, 1929May 3, 2019

Mary Frances Bomar Goodrum (December 1, 1929 – May 3, 2019) Born 2 month pre-mature in Memphis, TN to Lois and Herman Bomar, Fran used to say “Dynamite comes in small packages!” and it was oh, so true. She earned a degree in Secondary Education (English) at Memphis State before marrying Carl Goodrum and starting a family. They moved to Clinton, MS where she taught high school and went on to earn a Master’s of Education degree from Mississippi College. Her students knew her to be small but mighty, always with a smile and feistiness that demanded respect. She and Carl moved to New Orleans for many years before moving to St. Charles, MO. The last few years, they have lived at The Boulevard of St. Charles where the staff has treated her with love and respect up until the end. Heartland Hospice provided excellent, compassionate care for the final 3 months. Many thanks to the entire compassionate care teams. Fran is preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Hermann Bomar and sister Yvonne Pittman. She leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Carl. Her son, Don and daughter, Viki Farrow (Steve), Granddaughters Blayre Liebergen (Chad), Brittany O’Hara (Joey), and Sara Jackson (Bryan) as well as 4 great grandchildren, Claudia Liebergen, Rori Parr, Stella Jackson and Liam O’Hara. Visitation and Memorial services are being planned in the near future. Interment will take place in Jackson, MS at a future date. Fran has always held St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital close to her heart. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Memorial Page set up with St. Jude’s or the Alzheimer’s Association.
