Rebecca L. (Becky) Schneider passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014, after fighting Graph vs Host Disease for many years following a Bone Marrow Transplant received for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in 2003.
Beloved daughter of the late Elaine C. (nee Graves) and Norman O. Schneider Jr.; loving mother of Dane M. Davis, Katie E. Davis, and Darcie E. Davis; dear sister of James K. (nee Julie Gryzb) and Grady N. Schneider; aunt to Alex, Joey, and Cooper Schneider, cousin, and friend to many.
Becky was a 1972 graduate of Pattonville High School. She began her job career after high school with Western Union taking telegrams and money orders. In the early 1980’s, Becky transferred to Western Union’s electronic mail service known as “Easy Link” where she was promoted to a manager supervisor position. While with WU, she managed the front line customer support associates, wrote the draft for the first EasyLink User Manual, developed training documentation and trained new employees. In 1991, AT&T purchased EasyLink from Western Union and Becky’s title changed to Customer Service Manager. During her time with AT&T she manage a variety of departments and performed in many capacities including; ATTmail/EasyLink Customer Service Manager, Order Processing Manager, Warehouse Manager, ISO Documentation Writer, Billing Manager, Website Developer, and Content Writer. Becky retired in December of 2003 after 31 years of service.
Becky always had a love for animals. In the 1970s, she bought her first dog, a Great Dane named “Caine.” They trained and competed in Obedience matches, winning many trials. During her life time, Becky had pets that included turtles, snakes, ducks, mice, gerbils, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, cats, and of course her dogs. Working in the yard and gardening were her favorite pastimes. Becky also enjoyed taking pictures and scrapbooking.
Becky loved her children and made sure the job did not interfere with “making memories” with hem. She was room mother for each of her children during their elementary years. She also volunteered on the Rose Acres Elementary School’s “Buzz Book” committee, creating, creating the book’s cover for 3 consecutive years and was on the PTA’s Holman News Letter Committee.
Becky said her greatest accomplishment was becoming a mother. Without that, she would have never experienced being a room mother, school field trips, carnivals and room parties; the chickenpox, burying hamsters, swimming lessons, family vacations, T-Ball, soccer, wrestling matches, football games; piano, clarinet, and sax music concerts, basketball, gymnastics, cheerleading, drill team, stitches and other owes; typing the Holman PTA newsletter until the wee hours of the morning, homecomings, prom, and so much more.
