He was the 9th of 10 children. Four sisters: Jettie P. Wilson-Thornton, Louise Wilson-Dickerson, Zeola Wilson-Willis and Maryanne Wilson; and four brothers: Willie Wilson, Theodore Wilson, Early Wilson and Amos Wilson; proceeded him in death.
Shannon attended New Prospect and Wren Colored Consolidated Schools in Monroe County, MS. He served 12 years in the Army and also fought in the Vietnam War were he was injured. After leaving the Army, he worked at St. Louis Car Company and Nesco Steel Barrel Co. in Granite City, IL.
Family and friends called Shannon “Bill Bo”. He would affectionately greet you with an Army salute and was known for some of the words he would say. The funny thing is that no one knew how to spell the words or what they meant.
On Friday, September 2, 2011, Shannon passed away in his sleep.
