Shirley N. Herr
November 15, 1934 – December 26, 2018
Shirley N. Herr, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the age of 84. Shirley was born in St. Louis County, Missouri on November 15, 1934, and has been a life-long St. Louis native. She was the beloved daughter of Lucille Doll (nee: Smith); loving mother of Donald Renshaw (Sue), Karen Umphery, Sandra Renshaw, Daniel Renshaw, and Gary Renshaw; devoted grandmother of Angela Umphery, Michele Umphery, Donnie Renshaw (Jamie), Jessica Al-Sadoun (Salah), Jennifer Renshaw, and Ashley Renshaw; treasured great grandmother of Aaliyah, Devon, Lawrence, Cameron, Layla, Mustafa, Ali, Haider, Sameer, Ellie, and Shelbie; and dear sister of William Doll (Patricia), the late Carolyn Runge (the late Warren), and the late Darlene Doll. Shirley is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Shirley was a woman of the Catholic faith who put her trust in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, throughout her life. She was a very reserved person who was also loving, kind, funny, and, at times, sassy. If she didn’t like you, she would be sure to let you know. Shirley always enjoyed going shopping, going out to eat, and watching old TV shows. But, above all else, spending quality time with her family was what she cherished the most. During her stay at the nursing home, she loved listening to guitar music, playing bingo, participating in the other functions that were provided, and sharing her snacks in the middle of the night with one of her favorite nurses, Michele. Shirley will be remembered as a sweet and generous woman who saw the good in everyone and loved unconditionally. She will truly be missed by all those persons whose lives she touched.
Memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the American Heart Association.
Shirley's family, close friends, and caregivers are welcome to attend her memorial gathering and service on Saturday.
