Thai was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on February 22, 1987 to Thoi Ngoc Nguyen and Phung Phi Ly “Paula”, who survive their son. Thai is also survived by his younger brother, Hien Nguyen; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Thai and his family moved to the United States in 1994 when Thai was just 7 years old. They have lived in the St. Louis area ever since. Thai earned his Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. After graduating, he tried his hand at several career paths, including computer programming. However, he found his passion when he started working as a Croupier at River City Casino and was planning out his career in that industry. He enjoyed his work there and the relationships he formed with his colleagues and customers. After his untimely death, Thai was able to fulfill his pledge to be an organ donor, and in doing so he has already saved two lives. His family hopes that his gift of life will extend to other individuals in the future. He will be remembered as an enthusiastic young man who was full of life and always willing to lend a helping hand. Thai loved and cared for his family very much and he will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Thai’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
