William Ray QUILLMAN

William "Bill" Ray Quillman, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, with his family by his side. Born September 20, 1937 in Bush, IL to the late Harold Quillman and the late Helen Quillman-Gray (nee Eaves). Bill was the beloved husband of 59 years to Elsie "Ann" Quillman (nee Jamison); loving father to William Ray (Darla) Quillman II and the late Jennifer Quillman; cherished grandfather to William James Quillman; dearest brother to Kenneth (Janeen) Quillman; stepbrother Ed Gray and stepsister Kathy Gray; cherished stepson to the late Charles Gray; treasured uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and dear friend to many.

Bill proudly served his country in the Air Force working in Communications during the Korean War. He went on to provide 29 years of public service as a decorated Lieutenant for the St. Ann Police Department. During his tenure on the force (1968 to 1997) he held a number of positions, including Juvenile Officer, Road Lieutenant and Detective. He served on a variety of special task forces, including the Major Case Squad, Auto Task Force and Fraudulent Check Investigation Unit.

Bill loved fishing, shooting, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at Mount Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bills name may be made to Backstoppers.
