She was my mother’s only sister and Punia lived with my parents for 60 years after being widowed. She was my godmother and second mother. She was also one of my three boys’ babysitters and spoiler supreme.
Though she had been very sick with coronary disease over the last few years and had her right leg amputated on December 31st 2023, she was the life of her nursing home. My mom went to visit her almost every day and I went 3 times a week. At the home everyone knew her, loved her and some even feared her (lol).
On Tuesday afternoon the 19th after returning from Europe on Monday, my mom and I spent the afternoon with her drinking Ice Cappuccinos and eating pastry. Nothing let us believe that that evening her heart would give out!
So this is our final Aufwiedersehen or Do widzenia and until we meet again!
