Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, David and Geraldine McCurry, his brother, Michael McCurry, and his niece, Rhonda Swenson. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 34 years, Grace McCurry, and his sister, Sheila Toy, who will forever hold his memory close.
A U.S. Army veteran, Boyd served his country in Vietnam before returning home to California. There, he discovered his remarkable talent in the printing industry. Known for his mechanical genius, Boyd could repair presses with a skill and intuition few possessed. His work eventually brought him to Jacksonville, Florida — a move that would change his life forever.
In 1989, Boyd met Grace, and the two quickly formed a bond built on laughter, partnership, and a shared love of movies. Together, they opened a video store in 1991, creating a place filled with community, conversation, and joy. They married in 1992 and later sold the business around 2004. Boyd continued repairing and selling printing presses until his retirement, after which he poured his energy into remodeling their home — a place he shaped with his hands and his heart.
Boyd’s love of cars brought him to purchase a Chevy SSR, a passion that opened the door to a new community of friends. He joined fellow enthusiasts across the country, participating in SSR rallies and forming lifelong friendships through the group. Those adventures — the drives, the laughter, the camaraderie — became cherished memories he carried with him.
Boyd was a loving and faithful husband, a man who stood steady, worked hard, and cared deeply. His quiet strength, gentle humor, and loyal spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
“Love never fails.” — 1 Corinthians 13:8 Every day, Boyd and Grace chose each other. The love they shared remains unbroken — still present, still powerful, and carried forward into eternity.
Funeral services will be held on October 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Historical Church, located at 4124 Loretto Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
His life was one of service, skill, and devotion — to his country, his craft, and most of all, to Grace. His memory will remain a blessing, and his love will continue to guide those he leaves behind.
