Carlotta Maria Miller

Carlotta Maria Miller (Maria), beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 7, 2026, at the age of 83. She leaves behind a family who adored her: her four sons—Mark, Christopher, Timothy, and Matthew—seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Born and raised in Alabama, Maria grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and determination. In the early 1970s she married Elton Lee Miller (Lee), and together they built a life rooted in hard work and community. Maria was a gifted cosmetologist, owning and operating her salon, The Clip Joint, throughout the 1980s. Her creativity, skill, and warm personality made her a trusted stylist and a cherished presence in the lives of her clients.

In the late 1980s, Maria and Lee moved their family to Jacksonville, Florida, where they embarked on a new entrepreneurial chapter. Together they owned and operated TCBY Yogurt, eventually running 11 stores throughout North Florida. Their dedication and teamwork created a business that became a familiar and welcoming part of the community.

After Lee’s passing in 2007, Maria found companionship again when she married Remer Roberson in 2010. Their retirement years were filled with joy and adventure—traveling extensively, camping, volunteering, and participating in church activities. Their shared love of service and exploration brought Maria great happiness.

Maria was deeply committed to preserving American history and supporting patriotic service organizations. She served as Regent of the Jacksonville Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), advisor for the Children of the American Revolution (CAR), State President of the United States Daughters of 1812, and President of the Jacksonville Chapter of Southern Dames of America (SDA). She proudly represented CAR and DAR in Jacksonville’s Veterans Day Parade for many years, honoring those who served and ensuring their stories were remembered.

Maria will be remembered for her strength, generosity, leadership, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the organizations she strengthened, and the family she loved so deeply.
