Daniel Joseph Pasielski, a loving family man, longtime friend, Army Veteran and dedicated volunteer, passed away at age 92 on October 4, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. Dan had shared years ago that he thought “92 would be a pretty good age to go”, and for those who knew Dan, he usually managed to get what he wanted.
Dan will be remembered for his outgoing spirit, generous heart, and the meaningful impact he made with his volunteer service at The St. Augustine Lighthouse and Travelers Aid International in his retirement years. Known affectionately by many as “Dan the Man,” he brought kindness, encouragement, and a steady presence to people from every walk of life during his volunteer endeavors. He truly reflected a deep commitment to helping others feel welcomed and comfortable.
Those who knew Dan admired his interest in everyone, sense of humor, and the ability to make genuine connections - “So, where are you from?”. He had a gift for putting people at ease and he never met a stranger. His life was marked by his many years’ long friendships and the wonderful, shared memories, starting in his hometown of Elmira, New York and following him across the United States throughout his thirty-seven-year career with IBM.
Dan leaves behind a beloved family, including his daughter Cassandra, his son Chris, his grandchildren Cody and Katie, his cat Stripes and his many cousins and extended family members, all of whom he cared greatly about. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. We take solace, however, in knowing that his current journey leads to a joyful reunion with Pat, his cherished wife of 65 years.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be announced by his family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to K9s For Warriors, a Veteran’s charity that trains rescue dogs to be service dogs for our many service men and women struggling with PTSD, TBI and/or MST. Upon his daughter joining the K9s team in 2014, he became a passionate supporter, always encouraging her and everyone else to “go support our troops!”.
