Donna Hinman Blackwood

Donna Hinman Blackwood, age 77, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Donna was the middle child of the late Dorthey and Edward Hinman. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Joseph Larry Blackwood Sr., while he was on shore leave from the United States Marine Corps in Hawaii. Their marriage, rooted in love and mutual respect, flourished for nearly 60 years. Donna dedicated her life to her family and, in the mid-1980s, earned a degree in accounting. She went on to have a successful career with the State of Alabama in Montgomery. Her professional achievements were matched by her personal passions—she had a deep appreciation for horse racing and art, finding joy in painting and watching races. Above all, Donna was devoted to her family. She was a constant source of love and support, always putting her loved ones first.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister, Anna Tyler. Donna is survived by her beloved children: Joseph Larry Blackwood Jr. and Darlene Blackwood Lockhart; her brother, David Hinman; and her cherished grandchildren: Haley Lockhart Davis, Kendall Blackwood Johnson, Preston Reed Lockhart, Cassie Jo Blackwood, and Logan Wade Lockhart. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy.Donna’s legacy of strength, compassion, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A visitation for Donna will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens St. Johns, 1285 St. Johns Parkway, St. Johns, FL 32259. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 1285 St. Johns Parkway, St. Johns, FL 32259. A committal service will occur Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
