Geronimo Santiago, lovingly known as “Junior” and affectionately called “Papi,” was born on March 14, 1943, in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Lilac at Bayview Nursing Home after a long illness. On this date, dad entered eternity to the embrace and comfort of his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Monserrate Santiago, with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful family and life rooted in love, hard work, and faith. Geronimo was the proud father of three sons: Robert, Jerry, and Lionel. He was also blessed with six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy. He never missed an opportunity to express how proud he was of his family. For 30 years, Geronimo worked as a school custodian in Brooklyn, New York—a role he truly loved and where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He was a faithful provider, always encouraging his family to work hard and give their very best in everything they did. Outside of work, Geronimo enjoyed cheering for his beloved New York Yankees and sharing games of dominoes with friends and family. He will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and the love he poured into everyone around him.
