

Gregory Grant Davis, age 77, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025. He was born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to the late, Weaver and Elnora Davis. Gregory received his Associates Degree, Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing and Masters Degree in Speech Pathology, all from East Tennessee State University. He also further his knowledge by attending University of North Florida and Florida State University. Gregory earned Specialist 5 during his service to his country in the US Army (retired 1972).
His proudest career accomplishments as a Speech Pathologist, improving, remediating, finding an individual's best mode to communicate his or her feelings, needs and desires. He was elected to be a member of the District's Shared Decision Making Team. This group lobbied better ways of treating children with communicative disabilities. Gregory also accepted nomination from his colleagues for the Susan Fuller Award as Duval County's Speech Pathologist of the Year in 2013.
In his younger years, he found the love of baseball. He had an ambition to be a professional baseball catcher for the Detroit Tigers. That dream never officially happened, however when he coached in Jacksonville, his teams were the Tigers and he often took a trip to Lakeland to watch spring training games of those Detroit Tigers.
Gregory's hobbies included collecting baseball and football cards, playing bingo, camping, traveling, scrabble, fishing (catching and releasing only), playing golf, having cookouts and talking about his Alaska adventures.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Janet Davis; sons: Jason (Christina) Davis and Forrest (Ashley) Davis; step-son, Justin (Danielle) Lundquist; siblings: Constance (Celli), Melodee (Nelson) and David Davis; grandchildren: Owen Davis, Lucy Davis and Ava Lundquist; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, September 5, 2025 at Hardage-Giddens St Johns Funeral Home, 1285 St. Johns Parkway, St. Johns, FL with visitation held 1 hour prior to service at the chapel. Graveside service with military honors will be held 2 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218 (Lane 1)
