He served his country in the Florida National Guard and was a celebrated Salesman for Scott Paper Company for over 30 years
“Mac” was a proud member of the first graduating class of Bishop Kenny High School. Shortly after he earned an Associates Degree from Jacksonville University. He could cast a mean shrimp net, roll in a ten foot putt, & knock you into submission in a game of Gin. He inspired many as a coach in youth sports, but always made sure his own children knew he was their biggest fan. He loved The Bee Gees, Frankie Laine, The Blacklist, and watching the lovely ladies of Fox News while occasionally sipping on a glass of Crown Royal with a little ice. Though he spent many years in Georgia & North Carolina, Jim was devoted to his Mother, his Family & most of all his Children thus him spending many of his final years in Florida. His presence & humor will be missed.
James has joined his partner and love, Joann Hess; he had three children: James L. (Leslie) McDonald Jr, Kimberly M. (Jerry) Smith; and Michael D. (Jennifer) McDonald; two brothers: Frank A. (Jane) McDonald Jr. and William (Sharon) McDonald; twelve grandchildren: Taylor (Jessica) Jake, Sydney, Lili, Aidan, Blake, Brooke, Rachel, Stephen, Brianna and Caitlyn; four great grandchildren: Charlotte, Alexander, Aryella and Addie. Special thoughts to his best friend & loyal companion “Jax", his Jack Russell. Jim also had a host of extended family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 from 6:30pm until 9pm at The Riverhouse Amenity Center located at 140 Landing Street, St Johns, FL 32259.
