

Mr. Kenneth C. Dixon, Sr., age 93, passed away on August 12, 2025 while under the care of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. He was the husband of Sue Anne (Berry) Dixon and they were approaching their 69th wedding anniversary next month.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, he was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Anna (Breswitz) Dixon as well as his siblings and their spouses: Eleanor Fitch (Harold), Ralph Dixon Jr. (Ruth), William Dixon (Reine), Betty Van Winkle (Claude), Mary Lou Talarico (Joseph), Dottie Klatt (Emil) and Nancy Dixon. The couple has three children: Melodee, Melinda and Kenneth, Jr. (Jennifer) and two granddaughters: Ashley and Charlotte. He is also survived by Diane and William Keller, his sister-in-law brother-in-law as well as three generations of nieces and nephews.
Ken was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School in the Bookkeeping course of study. He went on to receive a certificate in Accounting and Finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Scranton Extension School and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Scranton.
He served as a Corporal in the United States Army for two years, first at Fort Dix and then Fort Knox. He then deployed to Whittier, Alaska where his duty assignment was Personnel Clerk for the Headquarters of the Port of Whittier.
After his discharge from the Army, Ken spent his entire career working in the accounting field for a number of private companies in Scranton and Reading, Pennsylvania. In addition, he was ordained as a Ruling Elder at the Suburban Presbyterian Church. He served as the Clerk of Session for Hickory Street Presbyterian Church in Scranton for 17 years. Currently, he was a member of Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
An avid sportsman, Ken and his father were frequent attendees at Scranton Red Sox baseball games in the late 1930s and early 1940s. As a father, he coached baseball and softball for his children’s youth teams with the highlight being all three teams winning their league championship in the same summer. In his retirement years, he enjoyed watching sports on television, especially Phillies baseball, Penn State football and Duke basketball.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Emil Klatt Food Pantry at the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church 435 Hickory Street, Scranton PA 18505.
