

Born on January 23, 1942, in Alma, Georgia, to the late Albert and Ivos Johnson, Lisa’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, service, and love. She spent her career as an Administrative Assistant with General Foods Corporation, the Jacksonville Port Authority, & the Jacksonville Airport Authority, where she was known for her professionalism, warmth, and genuine care for others.
Lisa was the devoted wife of Lewis L. Hethington, her beloved husband of 60 years. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and faith. The two shared a love of travel and fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting every National Park across the United States, Canada, and Alaska - each journey deepening their appreciation for God’s creation.
A master gardener and community servant, Lisa dedicated over a decade to the Cimarrone Community Landscape Committee, where her green thumb and generous spirit helped beautify the community she loved. She also gave her time and heart to Toastmasters International (Jacksonville Airport), serving as Area Governor and achieving the prestigious honor of Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) - the highest level of achievement in Toastmasters International. This distinction recognized her excellence in communication, leadership, and mentorship, as well as her unwavering dedication to personal and professional growth.
Lisa’s deep and abiding faith was central to her life. She began her spiritual journey at the University Boulevard Church of the Nazarene in Jacksonville, Florida, where she faithfully served as Secretary to the Board for many years. After relocating, she became an active and cherished member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville at Nocatee. Her compassion for others shone brightly through her ministry of sending thoughtful, prayerful emails to the sick and shut-in - each message lovingly researched and written with care to uplift and encourage the recipient.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Lisa was the heart of her family. She leaves behind her loving husband, Lewis Hethington; her son, Lorne Hethington; her daughter, Lori Olivarez (Teddy); her brother, Joe Johnson (Donna); her sister, Glenda Moore; and her treasured granddaughter, Rachael Barnhart. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws C. Frank Sr., and Mildred A. Hethington, and her sister-in-law Kaye Clark.
Lisa’s life was one of grace, generosity, and faith - a servant to both God and her community. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens St. Johns Funeral Home, 1285 St. Johns Parkway, St. Johns, Florida 32259. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville at Nocatee, 1770 Valley Ridge Boulevard, Ponte Vedra, Florida 32081.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lisa’s honor to the Gentiva Foundation, Mayo Clinic, or Baptist Medical Center South.
Lisa’s faith, warmth, and unwavering love will be remembered always - a light that will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew her.
