Mark grew up in Cleveland and Chicago and attended the University of Iowa, where he developed a lifelong love for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Above all, Mark loved his family and treasured the time he spent with those closest to him. Mark was a passionate sports fan and could always be counted on to cheer loudly for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed golfing and gardening, finding joy in time spent outdoors. Mark was compassionate, kind, and funny, with a gift for bringing laughter and light to those around him. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his sense of humor, and, most of all, the love he shared with his family and friends.
Mark is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julie; his children, Jack, and his wife, Tierney; Kate; Brett; and Brian, and his fiancée, Elizabeth Henderson; his mother, Gloria; and his brother, Dwight, and his wife, AK. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will hold his memory close.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mark’s memory to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, home of the Hawkeye Wave.
