Megan was a happy, strong willed child who knew her calling from a very young age. While other children played various games, Megan was always organizing “school” in the basement, insisting on being the teacher. She loved nothing more than lining up her stuffed animals and neighborhood kids, chalk in hand, ready to share her knowledge and enthusiasm for learning. She was also an avid horse rider, swimmer, and tennis player who spent countless summer days at the local stable, neighborhood swimming pool, and tennis courts.
She received her degree while playing collegiate tennis at St Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN. For many years Megan taught tennis to children and adults in Crystal Lake, IL.
Megan turned her childhood dreams and love of reading into reality when she began her career in elementary education. For 31 dedicated years, she taught and touched children’s lives with her warmth, patience, and genuine love for learning. She was known for making every student feel seen and valued, turning her classroom into a place of creativity, kindness, and curiosity. Many former students have shared that “Ms. K”s influence stayed with them long after they left her classroom.
Throughout her life, Megan remained active and adventurous. She enjoyed her convertible, swimming, the beach, and was happiest in the sun and sand. She took pleasure in meticulously planning events for family and friends – everything from Holidays to Kentucky Derby parties. She was the first to show up for the people she loved. She had a gentle spirit, a quick smile, and an infectious laugh that could brighten even the hardest days.
Megan is survived by her devoted husband of 15 years, Ken Kozlowski, her parents Joe and Patty Buckley, her brothers Michael (Pam), Patrick, TJ (Jenn), and nephews Julian, Blake and Max, niece Hannah and two fur babies, George and Clyde.
