

Michael J Banks, loving known as "Mickey", passed away on November 13, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on December 28, 1949, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia to the late Margaret Ann (Livesay) and James Michael Banks. Mickey was known for his adventurous and humorous spirit.
Mickey proudly served in the United States Army. During his honorable service in Vietnam with his training in Korea, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. After 20 years of dedicated service, he retired as a Lead Lineman with the Green Cove Springs Electric Authority, known for being hard-working and selfless.
Mickey is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Betty Jean (Tooke) Banks. Mickey was the proud father of Austin Banks, Matthew Hayt, and John Hayt, III, and grandfather to five cherished grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Diane Lee Banks, nephews Jimmy Quinones and Kris Quinones, niece Olivia Quinones, and seven great nieces and nephews.
As the patriarch of his family, Mickey instilled a love of family and country in his children. His gentle and thoughtful nature was evident in his personal interests, which included playing guitar and fishing.
A private Celebration of Life Service will be held in the spring of 2026 in Virginia. Mickey's brave and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
