Perry Franklin Castelvecchi

Perry Franklin Castelvecchi passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, with his daughter by his side, following an almost five-year battle with Stage 4 cancer. Throughout his journey, Perry faced each day with humor, strength, and determination, earning the admiration of everyone who knew him.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Vera Leone Castelvecchi and Frank Lester Castelvecchi, Perry lived a life defined by loyalty, kindness, and laughter. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making people feel comfortable, even in the most difficult situations. Whether through a joke, a story, or a warm conversation, Perry left everyone feeling like a friend.

Perry was a proud graduate of the University of Florida, earning his degree on August 26, 1972. A lifelong Florida Gators fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team. He also loved spending time at the beach, a place that brought him peace and happiness from childhood through adulthood. Perry enjoyed classic movies, football, music, and trivia of all kinds. Family and friends were always amazed by his ability to identify an actor, actress, or musical artist within seconds.

Professionally, Perry spent much of his career in sales, where his outgoing personality and ability to connect with people served him well. He was also a talented private contractor whose skills included tiling, carpentry, remodeling, and countless home improvement projects. There seemed to be very little Perry couldn't fix.

Above all else, Perry was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving daughter, Leigh Butterfield, and her husband, Ryan Butterfield; his cherished grandchildren, Brooke and Maverick Butterfield; his sister, Patricia L. St. Peter; and his brother, Frank L. Castelvecchi Jr., and sister-in-law, Cindy Castelvecchi.

Perry found his greatest joy in his family. He was the kind of grandfather who created lasting memories, shared endless laughs, and made his grandchildren feel deeply loved. He also held a special place in his heart for his grand-dog, Baxter, whose companionship brought him comfort and happiness.

A man of faith, Perry was a lifelong Catholic who quietly dedicated time to studying the Bible, a part of his life that many may not have known. He was also a devoted son who lovingly cared for his mother during the final stages of her life, demonstrating the compassion and selflessness that defined his character.

Those who knew Perry will remember his infectious sense of humor, unwavering loyalty, and extraordinary ability to make people feel seen, valued, and welcome. His laughter filled rooms, his stories brought people together, and his presence made life brighter. He had a way of easing tension, finding humor in everyday moments, and reminding others not to take life too seriously.

While his family mourns the loss of a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, they find comfort in the countless lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind. His legacy lives on in the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the joy he brought to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
