Sharon Elizabeth Knight, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering strength. Born on March 8, 1951, in Inglewood, California, to Don and Donna Barnett, Sharon's life was a beautiful testament to kindness, devotion, and service to others.
Sheri’s first love was working with children. The majority of her education involved early childhood development, and she described teaching preschool as some of her favorite years.
For 15 years Sheri served as the office supervisor at Brigham Young University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) center where she received the prestigious President’s Appreciation Award for overall contribution and commitment to the mission and aims of the university. Her supervisor said that “students received their first dose of therapy when they walked in the door because she was the loveliest person and was so caring”. Her retirement notice called her the “heart and soul of CAPS, and most can agree she is probably the kindest person on campus. It’s hard to imagine CAPS without her steady presence, and we will miss her terribly”.
Above all, Sheri’s greatest joy was found in her family. She was a devoted mother to her four children: Ron Knight Jr. (Sarah), Steve Knight (Presha), Greg Knight (Michelle), and Annie Neiman (David). Her love and guidance shaped their lives and continues to echo through the generations she leaves behind.
Sheri was a proud and loving grandmother to twelve cherished grandchildren: Caleb, Ainsley, Andrew, London, Lily, Luke, Olivia, Jane, Kale, Charlotte, Oliver, and Gabriel. She delighted in their laughter, celebrated their accomplishments, and held each one close to her heart.
Sheri’s life was filled with grace, wisdom, and warmth. She had an enduring faith, a gentle soul, and a kind heart that made everyone feel welcome and valued. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she gave so freely. Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the restored gospel served as an anchor for her in times of adversity. She served faithfully in various responsibilities through the years, including ministering to and caring for those in need. She was a true example of Christ-like love.
She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” – Matthew 25:21
