Thomas “Tom” Joseph Ryan, Jr, 66, of St Augustine Florida, passed away on August 26, 2025. Tom fought a valiant and courageous battle against Multiple Myeloma for the past 9 months. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tom lived a life of steadfast love for his family, a love of creating painting masterpieces, and a love of music and travel. Tom was a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University “Penn State”, and he also held a Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. However, Pitt will always pale in comparison to Tom’s love of the experience of attending Penn State, and the lifelong friendships he gained at Penn State. Tom’s career in banking, and investments took him, Michelle and their family back and forth across the country, and many relocations, however they chose to settle and retire in Florida. Tom cherished the friendships and relationships he made throughout his career. Tom’s passion for art led him to become an amazing landscape painter. One of the most inspiring trips was the first time Tom visited Giverny, France, and the home of Claude Monet. Tom was inspired just to be in Monet’s garden and perhaps admiring the same view that the Master had looked upon himself. This inspired the passion to create!
More than anything, Tom loved his family. He was a husband who loved his wife deeply, and a father who loved and encouraged his three daughters to reach for their dreams. Whether offering advice, sharing a story or just being present, he was a constant source of love, and he made sure we always knew he loved us. Tom loved gaining a son-in-law in Joe, and an amazing bright spot was gaining his first grandson! Every visit, photo and video of Graham gave Tom so much joy and happiness that helped to keep his heart full.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Joseph Ryan, Sr.Tom is survived by his loving wife of more than 34 years, Michelle Ryan. Tom was an amazing father to Christina, Stephanie Morgan (Joseph Morgan), Jennifer, and he was also a proud and loving Poppa to Graham, mother Kathleen Ryan, his brothers Michael (Kelly MacMillan), Daniel (Carol), Terrence (Lisa), Godmother Patricia Reed, and many nieces and nephews, a great-niece and great-nephew, as well as many cousins.
Tom will be remembered for his faith, and his love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 27th at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray, Pennsylvania.
