Tyrone Michael Bridges, lovingly known as Ty, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025. A devoted brother, uncle, granduncle, author, mentor, and loyal friend, Ty’s life was defined by integrity, service, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Born in Florida on September 4, 1944, Ty’s pursuit of knowledge led him to earn a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Emory University. While studying law, he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he served with distinction in the Honor Guard in Washington, D.C., protecting the White House and the President. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Emory University School of Law, where he earned his law degree.
Ty embarked on a distinguished legal career at Wilbanks & Bridges LLP in Atlanta, where he spent his entire professional life. Known for his sharp legal mind, meticulous research, and deep commitment to justice, he eventually rose to the position of Managing Partner. Beyond his legal acumen, Ty was a mentor and advocate, always willing to lend his expertise and guidance to those in need.
A lifelong and devoted member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Ty cherished the brotherhood he found in the Beta Delta Chapter at the University of Georgia. His unwavering commitment to the fraternity endured well beyond his college years, as he mentored future leaders and played a key role in expanding the chapter’s philanthropic and alumni development efforts.
After retiring (and seemingly mowing grass full-time), Ty made his home just outside of Milledgeville, GA, where he continued to embrace his passions for learning, travel, family, and the natural world. His generosity extended far beyond words—he was a champion of education, providing support and encouragement to friends and family pursuing their academic dreams. One of his most enduring legacies is the land he carefully acquired and preserved in Bat Cave, North Carolina, ensuring its beauty and ecological significance will be protected for future generations.
Ty is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Anne, and her husband, Phil, as well as his nieces and nephews: Jennifer Hayes, Tricia Dagostino, Reneé Morledge, Eric Bridges, Kelly Bridges, and Brian Bridges. He also leaves behind his dear fraternity brother, Dustin Holland, whom he loved as a son alongside Dustin’s family.
His legacy continues through his cherished grandnieces and grandnephews: Ty Hayes (his namesake), Courtney Hayes, Alexa Dagostino, Audrey Dagostino, Remy Morledge, Rhys Morledge, Eliana Bridges, Eden Bridges, and Evan Bridges.
Ty will be remembered for his deep sense of justice, boundless generosity, and steadfast belief in the power of education. His kindness, wisdom, wit and enduring impact on those who knew him will never be forgotten.
