William Kneer Bodenweber Jr.

William "Bill" Bodenweber, age 81, passed away at his home on September 25, 2025. He was born on June 20, 1944 in Ballston Spa, NY, he grew up in Kingston, NY, where he attended Kingston High School. In 1967, after graduating from St. John Fisher College with a degree in Economics, Bill joined the US Navy. There he flew jet aircraft and served aboard aircraft carriers for 25 years. He retired from the Navy with the rank of Captain and accumulated over 2000 flight hours as a decorated naval aviator.

Following his military service, Bill worked for Clay County as Safety Manager, retiring in 2009. After 35 years of residence in Orange Park, Bill and Cathy moved to St. Augustine where they lived for 10 years. Bill loved playing golf, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family who he loved tremendously! Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He touched many lives with his laughter, kindness and love of life. He was a fierce patriot and was incredibly proud to serve his country.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cathy, his three children and their families. Scott (Holly) Bodenweber, Kara (Danny) Haeussner, Kristen (Steven) Will, and his seven grandchildren; Griffin, Tyler, and Kelsey Bodenweber; Riley and Brody Haeussner, and Colin and Kaitlyn Will. He also leaves behind his sisters Susan Lyons and Dawn Michlewski. Bill was predeceased by his parents William and Jean Bodenweber.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated October 23, 2025 at 12:00 pm at St. John Paul II Catholic Church located at 127 Stone Mason Way, Ponte Vedra, FL 32081.

An interment service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery 32218. The service is scheduled for October 23, 2025, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at 4:00 pm at the Palencia Club located at 600 Palencia Club Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32095.
