Billy Darrel who preferred to be called “Darrel” was born in Eminence Missouri to Charlie O. and Thelma M. (Counts) Dixon on Friday, November 13th 1940. He grew up on a farm with his parents and siblings until he was Sixteen years old when he moved to St. Louis, Mo. To begin his life. He met Vicky, the love of this life, in St. Louis, in 1959. Eventually on November 18, 1961, they were married and five years later had their daughter, Michelle and five years later Brian.
Billy had a few jobs until he found the right one. When he first moved to St. Louis, he worked for his Aunt Laurie and Uncle Elvie Counts in their store. Then he got a position at International Shoe Company on Lemp. As an assembly line worker. His next position was with Drew Foods. He was one of the chemists who makes the oleo and cooking oil. He also worked part time doing Income Taxes for H & R Block for a few years while working at the other jobs he had. He then started working at the City of St. Louis Water Dept. where he tested and treated our drinking water for years until he retired in 2005. He also owned his own little side business of construction where he’d do home repairs for people while working at the City of St. Louis Water Dept. He also loved to make his designed wood furniture. It was beautiful wood furniture that will be left behind in his memory. He also had many beloved friends in his lifetime.
Billy Darrel loved to puzzle and was really good at it, building things from woods, working on cars, and always spending quality time with his wife, Vicky, mostly at the Casinos, he loved playing the slots. He always spent time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who always kept him busy. Also the love of his life after all of his kids was his blonde Chihuahua, Elvis. Elvis was Billy’s main dog. Billy loved eating home cook food with Elvis. Elvis was “as round as he was long”.
Billy was always funny, sassy, the most caring, loving man, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He also was very stubborn.
