Doris Weindel, age 102, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022. Doris was born November 26, 1919 in St. Louis to the late Frank and Edna Rohr (nee Engeszer). She is the beloved wife of the late Werner Weindel; loving mother of Glen (Mary) Weindel, Barb Bujewski, Pat (Jim) Zewiski and the late Jim Weindel; dearest sister of Margie Vaporean and sister-in-law to Dave (Patricia) Merz; devoted grandmother of Glen (Lisa) Weindel, Don (Karla) Weindel, Steve (Vanessa) Weindel, Ann (Scott) Ryan and Nick Zewiski; cherished great grandmother of Hailey, Bryce, Logan, Evan, Ethan, Ivory, Brandon and Breanna; caring great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Doris was a devoted lifelong member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, sewing and making costumes, and playing cards and games with family and friends. She was an avid Cardinals fan and particularly enamored with Yadi Molina, her favorite player. Doris loved company and would eagerly feed anyone who walked through her door. She would gladly, and sometimes insistently, help anyone in need. She was a strong, independent woman, with a deep faith and a profound love of family, and a sharp sense of humor which she kept to the very end.
Funeral from Hoffmeister South County, Thursday, August 18, 9:30 a.m. to St Andrew Catholic Church, 309 Hoffmeister Ave, St. Louis, MO 63125 for 10:00 a.m. Mass. A committal service will occur Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Mount Olive Cemetery. A visitation for Doris will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125.
