George J. Luberda
April 27, 1930 – December 26, 2018
George J. Luberda, 88, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 surrounded by his family and fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church.
George was born to Mary and Joseph Luberda in Forest Hills, Queens, New York on April 27, 1930. He was the dear father of Margaret Mary “Ret” Luberda, Joseph (Kimberly) Luberda, Eileen Luberda, Ann Marie (Robert) Cerame, and Julie Lambert; dear grandfather of Carey and Jack Jamilkowski, Brittany, Mickey, and the late Ryan Joseph Luberda, Meghan (Brad) Lees and Colin (Burgandy) Fitzhenry, Brad (Kasey) Luberda, and Harry and Charlotte Lambert; dear great grandfather of Annabelle, Clayton, Henry, and Thomas; our dear uncle and friend to many. George is survived by his only sibling, Connie Toole who resides in Sarasota, Florida.
George was a graduate of Georgetown University and Georgetown Law School in Washington, D.C. During his professional life George had an exemplary legal career working as an attorney with the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice in Washington, DC, Bendix Corporation, the law firm of Butzel, Long, Gust, Klein and Van Zile in Detroit, Michigan, the General Counsel’s Office of Monsanto, where he retired in his 60’s, and private practice until his early 70’s. In addition, for several years he was a part-time adjunct professor for the Saint Louis University Master of Business Administration program.
He proudly served his country as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy during the Korean War. It was during this time that he met his wife, Beverly (Carey) Luberda of Charleston, S.C. Beverly passed away in April 2017. They are survived by 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
George lived in the St Louis area for more than half his lifetime. During the time George resided in Warson Woods, Missouri, he was an active member of the St. Genevieve du Bois Roman Catholic Church as well as the Manresan Society. He enjoyed attending The White Retreat House, played weekend tennis until his late 70’s, and was devoted to his children’s families. His memory will live on through his children and grandchildren’s love of him.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 31, at Ste. Genevieve du Bois Church, 1575 N. Woodlawn Ave., 63122.
A Rite of Committal with full Military Honors at Resurrection Cemetery will immediately follow.
