She was the wife of Glenn Pershing Partney, the second of five children of Walter and Frances Nichols, mother of Glenda Phyllis Partlow, grandmother of Daniel Gerald Partlow and Laura Nichole Schnarr, great grandmother of Natalie Danielle Partlow, Isabella Danielle Partlow, Jon Roy Schnarr, Jr., Glenn Oliver Schnarr, and Franklin Roy Schnarr.
Her daughter Glenda writes:
Hazel is remembered for her devotion to and great love for her family and friends, her willingness to help others, her energy and enthusiasm for life, and for her unwavering faith and love of God.
Throughout her life she was there for all who needed her. She steadfastly stood by her family and was a partner with her husband in all of their many construction and real estate business ventures. She was a wonderful homemaker and took great pride in her home.
She always encouraged and believed in me and was like a second mother to my children – nurturing them when I worked. She and my Father instilled in me the importance of loyalty, goodness, perseverance, working hard and helping others.
A vibrant and interesting personality, she would light up a room with her conversation, smile and laughter. She showed great courage and bravery in difficult situations -- with Mother all things were possible.
At age 22 in 1944, she drove with her infant to California in order to be with my father for the year before he was sent to war. When winter layoffs in 1949 kept my carpenter dad from working, she encouraged and helped him build a rental house. When in the sixties he undertook building an 80 unit apartment complex, she backed him in this risky venture, jumped in and got them rented.
Her faith in God was always strong and as she knew her final days were drawing near, she told me she wasn’t afraid. She lived a long and meaningful life and will be greatly missed.
