September 10, 1929 – March 16, 2019
Henrietta Caldwell was born to John Henry and Lillie Bell Smith on September 10, 1929, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The family would later relocate to Detroit, Michigan. Henrietta accepted Christ at an early age, and joined Oak Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church as a teen. She was an active, devoted member, serving on the Usher Board and in many other capacities until her health started failing. She graduated from Pershing High School, and from Wayne County Community College. She worked for the City of Detroit, and she also worked well into her 80’s as a licensed cosmetologist. Henrietta’s home and heart was always open to family and friends alike, and she was a devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother. Though Dementia took many parts of her, it could never take away her memory of her beloved family. The Lord called Henrietta from labor to reward on March 16, 2019.
Preceding Henrietta in death were her husband, Theartis, her parents, and her son, Michael.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Sonja (Manuel) and her grandchildren - Brandi (Larry,Rhyan, Rhylee), Troy, Dewey (Kellie,Trey,Kendall), Layla, and Antonia - and a host of family and friends who loved her.
