I enjoyed the opportunity I had to talk to Jack about the St Louis Cardinals from the era of Dizzy Dean. Jack's favorite memory from that era was about an incident when Dean was hit in the head by a ball during a game. After the incident Dean was x-rayed to determine if he was okay. The headline on the St Louis sports page said "Xray of Dean's head shows nothing. " I had not heard that story. Jack made me laugh and gave me a good story to tell.
