August 21, 1943 – June 29, 2018
Jacqueline Ann Maurer (nee Bauer) was born Aug 21, 1943 in Riverdale, Maryland and died June 29, 2018 at Mason Pointe in Chesterfield, MO.
Jackie was the daughter of the late Dorothy and M.E. Bauer and was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She met her husband, Walter J. Maurer, Jr. while both were attending Culver Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. They married March 16, 1963 while still in college and immediately upon Walter's graduation they moved to Dallas, Texas where Walter attended graduate school. After two years in Dallas, they moved back to Kansas City. In 1970, their son Christopher E. Maurer was born.
In 1979, Jackie and family moved to Los Angeles, CA due to Walter's promotion with his company, RGIS. They resided in Westlake Village, CA until Walter's retirement in 2007 when they returned to Missouri to be close to family, and lived in Eureka. While in California, Jackie found great pleasure taking care of her many plants and feeding the large number of humming birds that frequented her feeders each day. Searching both the Bauer and Maurer family histories was one of her interests. She was a member of several genealogy societies. Reading, especially mysteries and science fiction, was another one of her passions. A Dalmatian dog lover for more than 50 years, Jackie treated her dogs as loved members of the family.
Jackie is survived by her son, Christopher, his wife, Jenny, and granddaughter Emma, all of Sherman Oaks, CA. Also surviving are sister-in-law Barbara Roux and her husband, Robert who were devoted to Jackie's care after Walter's death; nieces Jill (Keith) Collins of Los Angeles CA and Rebecca (Chad) Holloway of Edwardsville, IL; great-niece Ashley and great-nephews Clayton and Frankie, as well as cousins, second cousins, and friends.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Kriegshauser West Mortuary. Per Jackie's wishes, interment was private. The family is very grateful to Mason Pointe Lutheran Senior Living Center for the excellent care Jackie received in both the assisted living and the long-term care centers, to Hospice Care through Lutheran Senior Services, and to the Mason Pointe and private-duty caregivers who provided companionship, care and comfort to Jackie as her health failed.
Friends desiring memorials can be made to the local Humane Society.
