extraordinary woodwork craftsman, cook, and artist passed away on January 11, 2022 at the
age of 77.
Louis Morrow Jr. was born February 4, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Louis Cecil
Morrow and Vernice Morrow. He was the oldest of two children.
Lou graduated from O’Fallon Technical High School in the class of June, 1962. There he began
to discover and hone his artistic skills through various sketches, drawings, and paintings. Lou
worked initially in construction after high school before taking a job working as a sheet metal
fabricator at McDonnell-Douglas (now known as Boeing Aerospace Company). Lou retired from
Boeing after 35 years of service in June of 1999.
Lou was a devoted loving husband, and a father of two. He became a father to his son Jason in
July of 1967 from a previous marriage. He later met his wife Betty, with whom he enjoyed 35
years of marriage and had a daughter, Dorcas (Didi).
Lou was remarkably talented in working with his hands, especially through cooking and crafting
things. He particularly enjoyed cooking for his family and barbequing for summer holidays. Lou
also had a love for new gadgets/electronics, bold fashion, and taking pictures; though he often
preferred to be behind the camera rather than in the photo himself. His favorite pastimes
included having a routine of watching specific television shows daily with his wife Betty, as well
as watching Sunday football during football season, Cardinals baseball games, adding creative
new pieces to the landscaping of his home, and working regularly in his “shop” in the basement
crafting various new things for the house or for others out of wood.
Lou was strong-willed with a selfless attitude, and would often say: “Don’t you worry about me.”
He preferred to see others smile at something he gave or at a joke or story he told, as opposed
to ever asking anything of others in return. His favorite holiday was Christmas, and it was often
clear that Lou put genuine thought behind each gift he gave. Lou confessed belief in Jesus
Christ as his Lord and Savior in his latter years, and his spirit will be greatly missed.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Vernice Morrow. He leaves to cherish his
love and memories: his wife, Betty Morrow; daughter Didi (Brian) Lombardo, son Jason
(Sherrie) Morrow, sister Doris Morrow Ray, nephew Rarlon Ray, five grandchildren - Zachary
Morrow, Jade Morrow, Chadwick Morrow, Bella Lombardo, and Mia Lombardo, along with a host
of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Louis will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Kriegshauser Mortuary-West Chapel, 9450 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63132.
