Mary Ann MacDonald

January 2, 1935November 23, 2019

Mary Ann “Mommer” MacDonald (née Heitmeier) died peacefully in St. Louis on Saturday, November 23, 2019.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Ann MacDonald Junius (Paul), J. Michael MacDonald (Chris Bansbach), Christopher MacDonald, Donald MacDonald (Amy) and daughter-in-law, Donna MacDonald (née Suda); grandchildren, Kevin Junius (Emily), Alison Votruba (Mitch), Kathryn and Dan Junius, Kendall and Callie MacDonald, Kathleen and Mary Ann (Molly) MacDonald; great grandchildren, Elsa, Leigh and Ford Junius, Hudson, Walker and Nelle Votruba. She is preceded in death by her husband, B. C. (Cal) MacDonald Jr., her son, B. C. (Chip) MacDonald III and her brother, Donald Heitmeier.

Mary Ann was born on January 2nd, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri to Elmer and Lillian Heitmeier. She attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart (City House), Maryville University, and worked briefly for Falstaff Brewery. After losing her mother and father before she was 20 years old, she met Alice (Nonnie) MacDonald at a wedding who introduced her to her future husband where the rest became history. They would go on to marry and raise 5 children together. Cal’s mother and father, Beno and Alice, treated Mary Ann as their own, often lending a shoulder and being there to comfort her.

Mary Ann was an avid bowler for many years and volunteered at Shriner’s Hospital, The American Red Cross and Our Lady of the Pillar while her children were in school. She was known for showing up late and being the last to leave. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, traveling with Cal while they were young and summer vacations to Saugatuck, MI.

SERVICES: Memorial visitation 4pm until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 5pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church 401 S. Lindbergh Blvd., Creve Coeur, MO 63131. All are welcome to celebrate Mary Ann’s life. Donations to Whitehouse Retreat, 7400 Christopher Drive, St. Louis, MO 63129 are also appreciated. Thanks to her many friends and especially her caregivers Sandy and Monique.

Mary Ann will be missed terribly by the people that were lucky enough to know her. She was a true "Class Act" and a fun spirited lady. I know I will miss dropping something off for dinner for them and she was always so appreciative for what ever you did for her. Mary Ann was as lovely as they come and I feel very fortunate to have known her.

I am so sorry for your loss. No one knew how to enjoy and treasure family and friends more than Mary Ann. She had the innate ability to make people feel she was positively delighted to see them and her genuine warmth and charm drew everyone to her side. I know she will be dearly missed. Love and blessings to all of you.
