Mauricio was born in Bogotá, Colombia, to Mario and Beatriz. He graduated from Colegio San Carlos in 1990, served for a year in the Colombia Army and then went on to study Industrial Engineering at Universidad de Los Andes.
He joined Monsanto in Colombia, and after a few years came to the US to pursue an MBA at Yale University. A long time Bayer employee, he held leadership positions in Colombia, Mexico, Indonesia and the US.
He married Tatiana, the love of his life, in 1999. Together they raised two wonderful kids, Antonio and Laura. A devoted husband and father, Tatiana and the kids were the center of his universe. Mauricio was an amazing role model, not only for his kids, but also for his nieces and nephews. His friends and family will miss his generosity, quick smiles, and practical jokes.
Mauricio is survived by his wife, his son, and his daughter. He also leaves his parents, Mario and Beatriz, brothers Juan Guillermo and Felipe. He was preceded in death by his brother Mario.
We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who have given their support, compassion, prayers and love during this very difficult time."
