I was one of Patrick’s caregivers for 13 years. In that time, he became family and this loss hurts me very deeply. Patrick was such a sweetheart that I called him Pattycake. I truly believe he was an angel on earth. Patty, I’m glad you’re no longer in pain and your soul is with God now.. you will be missed greatly. My family and I are sending thoughts and prayers to your family.
With love,
-Rachel

You ran a good race Patrick, and now you are home. You taught us many lessons, and we will miss you dearly.

I was Patrick’s nurse for the last year while he was at Woodhaven. Once he became familiar with me he would play tricks on me. One evening when I was there doing his assessment it was around supper time. Patrick was at the table waiting patiently to eat. I turned away from him several times. Every time I turned away I would hear a weird noise, like he was snoring deeply almost like raspy lung sounds. When I would look at him it would stop. Finally I listened to him and lungs were clear as a bell. I looked at staff and she thought it was strange too. When I turned back quickly I noticed he was purposely making the noise with his mouth. Both the staff and I had a good laugh about this. He had tricked me. Even though he was nonverbal he had a sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all here at Woodhaven. Sending much love and prayers to his family. Kimberly Wayland-RN
