

on March 4, 1944, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014
at St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Bob, a graduate of St. Joseph’s RC Elementary School and
Boston Latin High School, was 69 years old.
He was a long-time member of the Sons of the American Legion,
Hand-Aldrich Post 924, Hampton Bays, NY.
Bob is survived by one brother, John Constantine Dekas of
Hampton Bays, NY, a host of nieces and nephews, and
his long-time friend of 22 years Finnette Gatewood.
Bob is preceded in death by his father James A. Dekas and
mother Anna Bridget (Clancy) Dekas, 4 sisters and 3 brothers:
Harriet Alden, Theresa Lallier, James Dekas, Francis Dekas,
Constance Willard, Agnes Scouten and Donald Dekas.
Bob moved to St. Louis, MO in 1965 from Boston, MA.
He worked for several companies until 1977 when he went to
work for the St. Louis County Government beginning as an
Enginerring Aide for the Department of Highways Construction.
He moved to become a Zoning Inspector and finally a Commercial Building Inspector.
He retired in December 2003, after 25 years of exemplary service.
Bob was an avid sports enthusiast, he especially loved baseball.
He was the coach of the Silver Hawks, an adult local baseball team in St. Louis, MO
in the 80's and 90's. Bob was polished in World and American history,
he could entertain any subject in any era that you came up with.
He will be sadly missed by an extremely large group of friends and acquaintances.
Memorial visitation will be held at Hoffmeister South County Chapel
1515 Lemay Ferry Road on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from
12 noon until 1:30 p.m. (314-544-7100)
