My mom used to tell me a leopard never loses its spots and to beware. Not good words or advice if you ask me. There’s no doubt that Robert did his own thing in life; said what he wanted no matter who it hurt or who disagreed. However; he did change. His heart grew bigger, and he became aware of others feelings. He changed cause he knew what he was doing and the transformation was indeed a leopard changes it’s spots. He was a living father, husband, grandfather and for me ; a friend . He over-tipped at restaurants cause he knew the hard work they did. He helped others out when they needed it. The voice of God was working through him and my how great is our God. Sadly his journey ended but he did it his way. He didn’t allow family to sit by his side. He stopped short little biscuits many cries she would gave experienced. He went out when no one was looking AND that was the Robert I knew.  Robert I know your walking wherever you want to go despite having the Cardinal and Blues themed wings you picked out. I know you’re eating all the foods you want; and yes even asking God the reasoning behind choosing our president . But you are free now; infinite, no more shackles. I look forward to seeing you Dad whether it’s a sign down on Earth or the embrace I expect when it’s my turn.

   I know you’re in Heaven right now walking and having the best meal ever. You are finally free, no more suffering and that’s what is getting me through this. Selfishly I want you back. I want to talk sports, I want to go to one more game with you. But, most of all I want to give you a hug and kiss and tell you how much I love you. Until we meet again dad, love you always and forever.

An old friendship has a value we cannot measure and decades of memories we will always treasure.  Robert was a long-time friend whose memory will always have a special place in our hearts.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Bev, Kristy, Matt, Joseph and Abigail as we mourn the loss of our dear friend.
