OBITUARY

Robert E. Overstreet

March 11, 1937July 11, 2020

Robert Earl Overstreet entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the age of 83. He was born March 11, 1937 in Wood County, Texas to Ruthie (nee' Baber) Overstreet and James Oliver Overstreet.

Robert was the cherished husband of the late Linda K. Overstreet; the loving dad/papa of Gwen (Jennifer) Overstreet, Misty (Jace) Esparza-Perham, Tressa (the late Tony) Walls, Tonya Ukeh, and the late Rodney Overstreet; loving "papa" of granddaughter Zona Ho (David), grandson Zachary Esparza, grandaughter Carmen Esparza, grandson Michael Esparza, grandaughter Manuela Faulk (Shannon), grandson Alaric Ukeh, granddaughter Calista Ukeh, granddaughter Amissa Walls, granddaughter Aviela Walls; dear great "papa" of great grandson Cameron Ho, great grandson Bryson Ho, great grandson Hayden Faulk, great granddaughter Juju Faulk and great grandson Christian Walls; dear brother of Mavis (the late Charlie) Beaird, and the late James Overstreet; a dear uncle, great uncle, cousin, and a good friend to many in his lifetime.

Dad/Papa/Robert was a very down to earth and hard working man. A simple man who lived a simple life. He absolutely loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and beyond! He was born dirt poor and talked often of picking cotton as a child to help the family survive, being sent to school with only a boiled egg for lunch. With less than an eighth grade education, he learned the value of working hard for a dollar early in life. He will always be remembered for his love of classic country music, western movies and shows, bowling, suspenders, eating canned processed meats, and the ability to pinch a penny until it screams! He took on the challenges of life with perseverance and a good attitude, never complaining even as his health continued to decline. Rest In Peace Pa as we are comforted you suffer no more. We love you very much and will miss you dearly!

Bob was one of those people that you rarely meet. He was slow to speak but when he did, what he said was honest and heartfelt. I came to love this man and respect his opinion. He was a sweetheart and I'm so happy to have known him. Knowing Bob and the quiet but strong man he was is a treasure. The whole family has my sincere condolences. Rose Brandt (Kohn)

My sincere sympathies to you all on your loss. I always enjoyed visiting and talking with Robert when he would visit here in Terrell or at family events. He was a sweet man, and I am glad I got the opportunity to know him.
